MODEL-SPECIFIC ERROR-CODE GUIDANCE

Dryer Error Codes and Fault Guide

Dryer messages commonly concern the door, lint filter, airflow, water tank or drain, temperature sensing, heating or communication. Stop immediately for burning smells, smoke or uncontrolled heat.

START WITH THE SYMPTOM

Common fault groups

These groups help describe the problem. They do not replace the manufacturer manual or appliance diagnosis.

Airflow and filter

Restricted airflow can increase drying time and heat. Clean only the normal user-accessible lint filter and follow the manual for condenser care.

No heat or long drying

Heating, airflow, moisture sensing, program selection and load size can all affect the result. A code does not identify a failed part by itself.

Water tank and drainage

Heat-pump and condenser dryers may report a full tank or drainage condition. Check only accessible containers and visible hoses.

Door, sensor and control

Record the exact message, selected program and whether the drum starts before requesting diagnosis.

BRAND EXAMPLES

Codes are not universal

Always verify the exact model. Similar-looking codes can have different meanings across brands and product generations.

Documented families cover door, temperature sensing, motor, communication, overheating and power-frequency conditions.

The full code and model are needed because display wording differs across ranges.

Miele lists both F-codes and display messages. Check the exact model-specific support entry before acting.

Reviewed: September 2026. Manufacturer documentation can change; use the current manual for the appliance model.

SAFETY FIRST

When to stop using the appliance

Switch it off and isolate power or water only when safe to do so if there is smoke, sparking, a burning smell, an active leak, uncontrolled overheating, a cracked cooktop or repeated breaker trips. Do not remove panels, bypass locks or test live wiring.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Dryer code questions

What does my dryer error code mean?

The meaning depends on the brand, exact model and sometimes the program stage. Record the complete code and model number, then compare it with the manufacturer manual before treating it as a diagnosis.

Can I reset the code by switching the appliance off?

A single power reset may clear a temporary message when the manufacturer manual recommends it, but repeated codes should not be continually reset. Stop using the appliance for leaks, smoke, sparks, burning smells, overheating or repeated electrical trips.

What information should I include in a repair request?

Include the brand, full model number, complete code or light pattern, when it appears, what the appliance was doing and any unusual sound, smell, leak or heat.

Does an error code confirm which part has failed?

No. A code identifies a condition detected by the appliance and several causes may be possible. Proper diagnosis is needed before parts are selected.
