MODEL-SPECIFIC ERROR-CODE GUIDANCE

Washing Machine Error Codes and Fault Guide

Washing machine codes commonly point to drainage, water supply, door-lock, load-balance, leak, motor or control conditions. The exact meaning depends on the brand and model.

START WITH THE SYMPTOM

Common fault groups

These groups help describe the problem. They do not replace the manufacturer manual or appliance diagnosis.

Drainage and spin

The machine may stop with water inside, fail to spin or display a drain-related message. A visibly kinked drain hose or accessible filter obstruction may be relevant, but the code is not a confirmed pump diagnosis.

Water inlet

Filling may be slow or may not begin. Confirm only that the household tap is open and the visible inlet hose is not kinked; do not remove valves or internal panels.

Door and lock

The cycle may not start or the door may remain locked while water is present. Do not force the door or bypass the interlock.

Balance, foam and load

An uneven load or excess detergent can interrupt spinning. Follow the user manual for redistribution and detergent guidance.

BRAND EXAMPLES

Codes are not universal

Always verify the exact model. Similar-looking codes can have different meanings across brands and product generations.

SAFETY FIRST

When to stop using the appliance

Switch it off and isolate power or water only when safe to do so if there is smoke, sparking, a burning smell, an active leak, uncontrolled overheating, a cracked cooktop or repeated breaker trips. Do not remove panels, bypass locks or test live wiring.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Washing Machine code questions

What does my washing machine error code mean?

The meaning depends on the brand, exact model and sometimes the program stage. Record the complete code and model number, then compare it with the manufacturer manual before treating it as a diagnosis.

Can I reset the code by switching the appliance off?

A single power reset may clear a temporary message when the manufacturer manual recommends it, but repeated codes should not be continually reset. Stop using the appliance for leaks, smoke, sparks, burning smells, overheating or repeated electrical trips.

What information should I include in a repair request?

Include the brand, full model number, complete code or light pattern, when it appears, what the appliance was doing and any unusual sound, smell, leak or heat.

Does an error code confirm which part has failed?

No. A code identifies a condition detected by the appliance and several causes may be possible. Proper diagnosis is needed before parts are selected.
