Selected fault meanings and safe next steps
Checked against Miele Australia guidance on 13 September 2026. This is a selected explanation guide, not a service manual or a diagnosis of your appliance. The directory above does not mean every code applies to every model.
LC: controls locked
LC can indicate the system or safety lock. The unlocking sequence varies between induction, electric and gas models and their controls. Use the instructions for your model instead of trying a universal button sequence.
Read Miele’s official guidance for this fault
dE: demonstration mode
Demonstration mode allows the controls to work without normal heating. Miele gives different steps for rotary and touch controls. Match your model to the linked instructions.

E2: overheating protection
Miele identifies overheating protection. Empty cookware, very high heat and insufficient ventilation are possible triggers. Switch off and allow cooling safely. If protection triggers again after the cause is addressed, arrange service; never bypass it.

Questions before booking a repair
Does the code tell me which part to replace?
No. A fault display describes a detected condition. Record the complete code, model and symptoms before a technician diagnoses the cause. Do not buy a part based only on a code.
What if my code is not explained here?
Check the official Miele support directory linked above and the operating instructions for your exact model. Send us a photo of the display and the model details when requesting help.
When should I stop using the appliance?
Stop if there is leaking water, smoke, a burning smell, electrical tripping or uncontrolled heat. Do not remove panels or bypass safety devices. Isolate power only where safe to do so and arrange professional help.
What information helps with a repair enquiry?
Provide the model, full code, when it appears, whether it returns, and your suburb. Do not move a heavy or built-in appliance just to find its label.
