MODEL-SPECIFIC ERROR-CODE GUIDANCE

Dishwasher Error Codes and Fault Guide

Dishwasher codes frequently relate to filling, draining, leakage protection, heating, door sensing or circulation. Record whether water remains in the tub and when the code appears.

START WITH THE SYMPTOM

Common fault groups

These groups help describe the problem. They do not replace the manufacturer manual or appliance diagnosis.

Not draining

Standing water, repeated beeps or a drain message can relate to the filter, hose, pump or control system. Clean only the user-accessible filter as described in the manual.

Not filling

Confirm the visible water supply is on and the hose is not kinked. Repeated inlet errors need model-specific diagnosis.

Leak or overflow protection

Switch the appliance off and isolate the water supply if safe to do so. Do not repeatedly reset a leak-protection message.

Heating and drying

Poor drying or a heating code can have several causes and should not be reduced to one assumed component.

BRAND EXAMPLES

Codes are not universal

Always verify the exact model. Similar-looking codes can have different meanings across brands and product generations.

BrandExamplesGuidance
MieleF11, F12/F13/F15, F24, F70, F78 and F600

Miele lists drainage, water-inlet, Waterproof, circulation and AutoDos-related families. F11 guidance itself differs by generation.

Electrolux / Westinghousei10/i11, i20/F2

These families are commonly used for inlet and drainage conditions on supported models.

Fisher & Paykel DishDrawerA1, A3 and light patterns

Meanings vary by DishDrawer series; record the complete display or button-light pattern.

Samsung4C/4E, LC/LE, AC, 1C

Documented families can indicate water supply, leak detection, control communication or low-water conditions.

Reviewed: September 2026. Manufacturer documentation can change; use the current manual for the appliance model.

SAFETY FIRST

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Dishwasher code questions

What does my dishwasher error code mean?

The meaning depends on the brand, exact model and sometimes the program stage. Record the complete code and model number, then compare it with the manufacturer manual before treating it as a diagnosis.

Can I reset the code by switching the appliance off?

A single power reset may clear a temporary message when the manufacturer manual recommends it, but repeated codes should not be continually reset. Stop using the appliance for leaks, smoke, sparks, burning smells, overheating or repeated electrical trips.

What information should I include in a repair request?

Include the brand, full model number, complete code or light pattern, when it appears, what the appliance was doing and any unusual sound, smell, leak or heat.

Does an error code confirm which part has failed?

No. A code identifies a condition detected by the appliance and several causes may be possible. Proper diagnosis is needed before parts are selected.
